The Gila River is an important waterway in the Southwest United States. It supplies water to communities, farms, and wildlife. In normal years, winter snowfall in the nearby mountains provides much of the river's spring runoff. This water helps replenish San Carlos Reservoir, which was created by the Coolidge Dam.
