The Senckenberg Ocean Species Alliance (SOSA) worked with Pensoft Publishers and science YouTuber Ze Frank to let people help name a newly found deep-sea chiton. The species was officially described in the Biodiversity Data Journal. Over 8,000 name ideas were submitted through social media. After reviewing the entries, the research team chose Ferreiraella populi as the winning name.
