How to add or correct your college's details on Shalyam

See something missing or wrong on a Shalyam college page? Here is exactly what you can submit, what proof we ask for, and what happens after you click send.

How to add or correct your college's details on Shalyam

If a Shalyam college page is missing a detail, or has it wrong, you can fix it yourself in under two minutes — no account, no fee. This post walks through the "Add or fix this info" button on a college page: which 7 details it covers, what proof to attach, and what a reviewer checks before your fix goes live.

Most college directories either lock editing behind a login or accept any claim with no check at all. Shalyam does neither: anyone can suggest a correction, and nothing is shown as fixed until a trained reviewer has looked at the proof.

Summary

  • Every section of a college page — Fees, Programmes and intake, Admission and exams, Scholarships, Hostel, Placements, and Contact for admissions — has its own Add or fix this info button.
  • You fill in the detail, the academic year it applies to, and a link or document that backs it up.
  • You tick consent confirming you're allowed to share that proof and that it's accurate as far as you know; your email is optional and never shown publicly.
  • A reviewer checks the proof before anything changes on the page — this is the same process described in How Shalyam verifies college fees.
  • You can ask to show your name as the contributor, or stay anonymous; either way, nothing you submit is published unreviewed.

The 7 things you can add or correct

Each college page section links to one of these 7 fields. You can only submit one of these — the form does not accept free-text edits to the rest of the page, which keeps review fast and focused.

Section on the pageWhat you submitWhat we ask you to attach as proof
FeesCourse, tuition range, hostel and other charges, the academic year they apply toA fee notice page or PDF from the college or a government fee-regulation body
Programmes and intakeCourse name, number of seats, academic yearThe prospectus or admission brochure page listing seats
Admission and examsWhich entrance exams are accepted, link to the official admissions pageThe college's own admissions page
ScholarshipsScholarship name, eligibility, link to the noticeThe official scholarship notice
HostelWhether hostel is available, for boys/girls, and the yearly fee if publishedA college page or notice (a photo of a notice board is fine)
PlacementsAcademic year, link to the placement report, median package and number placed if disclosedThe official placement report or disclosure
Contact for admissionsAdmissions email, office phone number, source pageAn official college page — never a personal mobile number

If you don't have a document to link or upload, you can still submit a plain description (the field still gets logged), but it will only show as contributor-reported rather than verified with source — see the next post in this series, How field status labels work, for what each status means.

Step 1 — Open the form on the section that needs fixing

On the college's own page, each section (Fees, Programmes and intake, Admission and exams, Scholarships, Hostel, Placements, Contact for admissions) has a small Add or fix this info button. Tapping it opens a short form already set to that section — you don't have to hunt through a long generic form to find the right field.

Step 2 — Fill in the detail and attach your proof

Depending on the section, the form asks for the specific pieces listed in the table above, plus:

  • A link to your proof (the college's own fee page, prospectus, placement report, etc.), or a file upload where the form allows it.
  • The academic year the information applies to, where that matters (fees, intake, placements) — a notice from the wrong year is one of the most common reasons a submission is rejected.
  • A tick box for consent: you're confirming you have the right to share the document you're linking or attaching, and that the information is accurate as far as you know.
  • An optional email address, only used if a reviewer needs to ask you for a clearer copy of your proof. It is never shown on the public page.
  • An optional "show my name as contributor" tick box, if you'd like credit once your fix is approved.

There's no account to create and no password to remember — the form works for anonymous visitors.

Step 3 — A reviewer checks it before anything changes

Your submission does not update the page immediately. It goes into the same review queue described in our first post: a trained reviewer checks that the proof opens, matches what you submitted, comes from the college or an official body (not a forum or another website's article), and doesn't expose anyone's personal phone number or ID. Only then is it approved.

You'll see a message confirming your submission was received, with an expected review time. If it's rejected, it's for a specific reason — proof didn't match, wrong year, or missing proof — not a silent drop.

Step 4 — What shows up on the page afterwards

Once approved, the corrected detail appears in its section with a short status line and the date it was last verified, the same labelling used throughout the college page (see How Shalyam verifies college fees for how those labels work). If you asked to be credited, your name appears as the contributor; otherwise the fix simply appears as part of the page.

What this form is not for

  • It is not a general contact form — it only accepts the 7 fields listed above, each with its own expected proof.
  • It is not a way to publish a personal mobile number as an admissions contact; use an official office line or email instead.
  • It is not instant — every submission is queued for a human check first, so a fix will not appear on the page the moment you submit it.
  • If your college is missing from Shalyam entirely, this form is not the right tool either; use the contact page instead.
