If you've found a college's fee notice — on its own website, in a prospectus, or as a PDF — you can submit it to that college's Shalyam page in under two minutes, no account needed. This post walks through exactly what the Fees form asks for, what counts as proof, and what a reviewer checks before your submission goes live.
Most searches on "sharing" a fee notice turn up something adjacent but not this: a tool for colleges to generate their own receipts, a tip for splitting a payment with a relative, or instructions for handing documents to a college's own verification desk. None of them cover an ordinary visitor passing a notice they've already found into a public, reviewed record so the next student doesn't have to search from scratch.
Summary
- The Fees section on any Shalyam college page has its own Add or fix this info button, separate from the other 6 sections described in our last post.
- You submit the course, at least one tuition amount (minimum and/or maximum), hostel and other charges if the notice lists them, the currency, and the academic year — the form rejects a submission missing a tuition figure or a blank year.
- A link or uploaded file is optional for an ordinary contributor, but without one your entry can only ever be labelled contributor-reported, never verified with source.
- You must tick consent before anything is accepted at all — no proof, no credit box, no submission without it.
- A reviewer checks the notice against what you typed before anything appears on the page; nothing is published unreviewed.
Why share a fee notice at all?
Colleges and universities in India are expected to publish each fee component — not just tuition — before admissions, typically in the prospectus.¹ For some professional courses, a state fee regulatory committee can separately approve or cap the fee on top of the college's own notice, so "the notice" can mean two documents, not one.² Most of that information sits in a PDF or a page buried on the college's own site. If you've already found it, sharing it on Shalyam means the next student searching for the same college doesn't have to dig it out again.
What the Fees form actually asks for
The Fees field only accepts specific pieces — it is not a free-text box. Here is exactly what it validates:
| You submit | Required? | What happens if you leave it out |
|---|---|---|
| Course (for example B.Tech CSE) | Yes | Form will not submit without it |
| Tuition minimum and/or maximum | At least one of the two | Form rejects the submission if both are blank |
| Hostel charge | Optional | Left blank if the notice doesn't list one |
| Other charges | Optional | Left blank if the notice doesn't list one |
| Currency | No — defaults to INR | Defaults automatically |
| Academic year the notice applies to | Yes | Form will not submit without it |
A notice without a clear academic year printed on it is one of the most common reasons a fee submission can't be used as-is — if you can't see which year it covers, it's worth checking the college's site for a dated version before you submit.
Step 1 — Open the Fees form on the college's page
On the college's Shalyam page, the Fees section has its own Add or fix this info button — the same pattern used across all 7 contributable sections, opening a short form already set to Fees rather than a long generic one.
Step 2 — Enter the notice's details, and attach it if you can
Fill in the course, tuition, hostel and other charges, and the academic year from the table above. Then, where the form allows it:
- Paste a link to the fee notice (the college's own fee page or prospectus PDF, or a state fee regulatory committee's approval), or
- Upload a copy of the notice if there's no stable link.
A proof link or file is not required to submit — but it changes how your entry is labelled. Without one, your submission can still be accepted and reviewed, but it can only ever show as contributor-reported, not verified with source, because there is nothing a reviewer can check it against directly.
If you're a student uploading a photo of your own college's fee notice (rather than linking to one online), two things matter before you tap submit:
- Hide your roll number and name. Crop the photo or cover these with your finger/a sticky note before photographing — a fee notice only needs to show the fee structure, not who it was issued to.
- Make sure the academic year is visible in the shot. If the year printed on the notice is cut off or blurry, a reviewer can't confirm which year the fees apply to, and the submission will stall — frame the photo so the year is clearly readable.
Finally, tick consent: you're confirming you're allowed to share the document or photo you attached, it's true to the best of your knowledge, and you allow Shalyam to show the fact with its source and date on the college's page. You can also tick a box to show your name as the contributor — this is optional, and your email (if you add one) is never shown publicly; it's used only to review your submission and contact you about it.³
Step 3 — A reviewer checks the notice, not just your word
Your submission doesn't change the page immediately. It goes into the same review queue described in our earlier posts: a reviewer checks that the proof opens (or, if there's no proof, that the submission is otherwise plausible), that it matches the course, year and currency you entered, and that it comes from the college or an official body — not a forum post or another site's table. Expect a reviewer to look at it within 7 days — our earlier post on adding or correcting college details covers this same review step in more detail. Only then does it move from pending to live.
Step 4 — What shows up on the page afterwards
Once approved, the fee row appears with its value, a status — Verified with source when there was a proof link or file a reviewer could check, or Contributor-reported when there wasn't — and a Last verified date. If you asked to be credited, your name appears alongside it; if not, the fee simply appears as part of the page.
What this form is not for
- It is not a place to paste a number from a forum, a WhatsApp forward, or another portal's table as if it were the notice itself.
- It is not a way to submit a fee without a course or an academic year — both are required before the form accepts anything.
- It is not instant — every submission, with or without proof, is queued for a human check first.
